Silverstone wetness...
Forgive the crosspost
.......................
So, as I'm sure some of you have noticed, I've been attacking my six year old 85,000 mile S2000 in stages. Some wetsanding, some headlight polishing, etc. I could attack the beat up front bumper and lip spoiler, but... *shrug* I'm not enthused
WELL... I've finally polished out the whole thing - not entirely to my satisfaction, but you have to accept it at some point. The repainted areas on this car are HARD HARD HARD. I don't know what's up with that. I guess that's a good thing, since I've finally gotten it pretty welll corrected to my satisfaction.
general processes
- wetsanding (1500/2000 3M) in spots for scratches and touchups (trunklid, spoiler) and full areas (driver's side)
- Optimum Hyper Compound via rotary or PC and light/cutting pad
- Menzerna 106FF/RMG mix (70/30) via rotary (finishing pad) or PC (polishing pad)
- Klasse AIO (in the case of the driver's door - Z2Pro) and 1-2 coats of Souveran
- 303 on tires (and top), you'll notice the driver's rear is shinier - I sprayed and wiped down all the tires with 303, but this rear I sprayed again the next day and let the 303 soak in overnight. What you see is the result - a little shiny, but dark and even. I like. I used a 4oz pump sprayer that atomizes very well and wiped off the next day to prevent any sort of sling.
It's ALL in the prep, I tell you. Here are a few shots from today...
Thanks for looking!
And forgive the fact that I'm still running my winter tire/wheel combo

Looks good.
I'm equally enthused about trying to touch-up the front bumper. Thinking about just getting it repainted but am worried about mismatched color.

i too now have become proficient in wetsanding.. it really works well. I'm starting to use it more and more. Any OP, bad scratch, or bad blemish comes right off instead of the hours of "maching" it. Then followed up with good compound work and it will be "show car-like" as yours IS !
I'm a little more conservative and go from 2000 to 3000 grit only..
