Just came back from the dealership's service department. You guys were right about claying, and the dealership's detailer will do it for me under warranty.
Apparently the little black/brown spots were what they call "rail dust" - particles that get embedded in the car sometimes, when it is being transported on train.

Just so everyone knows--this 'shotgun fungus' or 'cannon fungus' does not grow on your car. There seems to be a misconception here on this thread. The fungus actually fires it's spores (reproductive structure) like tiny projectiles when they dessiminate--hence the name cannon fungi or shotgun fungi. This is so the spores can attach to other surfaces such as host trees/plants that they will infect. The concept is very similar to how mistletoe is known to shoot it's seeds long distances to grow on nearby trees.
