Default Shelf Life of Wax

I searched, but what I found did not provide a definitive answer. What is the shelf life of wax? I'm wondering this because I'm debating on ordering some products now due to sales, or wait till next spring. I'm interesting in paste type waxes i.e. P21's, Lusso, etc.

as long as they are kept around room temp, they should last forever. I keep my waxes in a wine cooler set at 63 deg

Some waxes turn yellow with age. Carnuba has a slight yellow tint to start with and gets more yellow as it ages.

I quit using Collonite on white cars because of the yellow tint. It was actually visible after it was applied to the car and buffed.

I probably should mention that I had purchased a case of the Collonite and it was a few years old when I noticed that it had turned yellow.

from what i understand, the worry is certain solvents used in the wax will evaporate over time. keeps the wax at a constant temp will help, as well as keeping it in the fridge.
the fridge is where my dodojuice supernatural is going once i buy it. many people who buy real expensive wax have this question, as noone wants to shell out 2k for some devine, or even more for some of the rare zymols and such, just to have them go bad. often the companies tell the owners to keep the wax in the fridge (but most def NOT frozen! - just cool) to prolong it's life.

Does anyone have an opionion on synthetics?

I have some Zaino that is a couple of years old. I continue to use it because it still beads nicely. Is beading an appropriate test?

Beading is somewhat ok of a test.

The best thing to do is keep your waxes around the same ambient temp year round. The fridge idea seems to be the best. If it gets too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter, your fridge stays pretty much the same temp the whole time.

I agree about solvents in the wax evaporating. I think it does happen. I had this one jar of paste wax start to look like it was drying up and turning chalky. Tossed it (not an expensive wax).

I personally don't do the fridge idea, as I don't have the space for all my waxes.
My basement stays pretty cool in the summer, and I keep a portable heater down there in the winter. Don't need my other products getting to cold. I have had car soaps altered because they got too cold over the winter before.
