It depends on your preference and usage.
Carnauba waxes provide good protection for about 4-6 weeks. If you're like me and you wax your car almost every week then durability isn't an issue. There is always a layer of protection. For those that wax 2 times a year carnauba wax isn't an option. On the plus side carnauba waxes like p21s and Souveran have a certain glow and wet depth that sealants can't seem to duplicate (most likely because of the oils). Keep in mind that you can't layer carnauba like you can sealants.
A synthetic like Zaino is perfect for those that don't wax often. I regularly get 4-6 months out of a Zaino application. I feel Zaino is also a better protectant from the elements. Some folks even apply Zaino a few times a month. Zaino claims to get better and deeper with multiple coats.
Some like to top a sealant with carnauba. You will find Zaino or Wolfgang under just about all my carnauba's. I Zaino twice a year after stripping the car down with dawn and rubbing alchohol (or polishing). From that point I just apply carnauba wax weekly until i feel it is time to Zaino again.
My methods have changed from time to time but I feel the most comfortable now with this method.

not sure that you really mean sealant...
if you do, that would be a product that would never see any surface of any car that i am involved with- they are sold by dealers usually as a "no maintenance" type product.
example of info on sealants is here:
http://www.buy-and-sell-car-secrets.com/car-wax.html
if you mean synthetic, then i agree- they are the best base for the car.
mine currently has zaino topped with carnuba (p21s).
so you dont have to get rid of your carnuba!!
