Scratches on Black - What is Normal
I have not had a black car in a long time and need clairification as to what constitutes fine scarches that will come out with a good wax and what are a bit more severe.
After the dealer detailed my car it now has straight line scraches and swirls as well as what appear to be fine white line type scratches. My detailed says that the dealer did not buff car but just threw on some wax and possible scrached to at that time.
My question is on black what kind of imperfections are normal and correctable and what are the type that would neea a good buff to get out. Some of these scraches are only viible in certain ligh or at the right angle but some are a bit more obvious to me. What do you guys think?
Thanks, Mike

IMO no fine scratches are acceptable. I would get a porter cable with the orange pad, some 3M Swirl Remover and a whack of Zaino's Z5, and the new z2. Then do a search of how to apply and you'll be fine.

I've got some small scratches in my black paint. Ya really can't see them unless you look at the paint in certain light. Guess I'm not as picky about them as others.

fine scratches and swirls exist on any paint that is not polished every once in awhile. i agree with simon that a good swirl remover is the first step. the second step is to be careful not to get new ones (dont let the dealer ever wash your car! and do it yourself!!).
