Sorry to hear about that. I hate incosiderate jerks!
I would pick up some Meguiars Scratch X and give that a try. If you can feel the scratch with your fingernail, it is too deep and will not buff out, but if you cannot feel the scratch with your fingernail, then the scratch can be buffed out. After buffing it, be sure to apply some wax over the polished area to protect it.
As far as the dent goes, your best bet would be to find a paintless dent repair guy in the phone book. You may luck out and meet up with him at a dealership and have him pop out the dent for less than what a regular appointment would cost you.
Good Luck.

if the scratch is not past the paint you should have a good chance of getting it out or minimizing it.
if the paint isnt cracked, after you have the dent taken out you can try the scratch x by hand as moonsurfer suggests.
if you are not happy with the results, you would then have to go with more aggressive polishes... probably all the way to the most aggressive- a good compound. you will want to do this with a machine and follow up with a fine cut and then a swirl remover.
first step as moonsurfer also mentioned is to get the dent out probably by a dent wizard type guy.

after looking it over more times, it looks more of a deep deep scratch. going into the paint. and it still has some black residue probably from wahtever scraped it (door or someone passing by). maybe i can pick up some of that meguiars scratch x at pepboys and try it out. hopefully maybe i can take out some of the black residue from the scratch.

hard to tell without a pic
depending on how bad, how deep, any rotary or da polisher can usually remove it with a good compound.
or if it is deeper, wet sanding then rotary polishing..
or if down to the metal, then i'm afraid its bodyshop prepping..
