Default rusty brake discs?

What's up with that?? The slightest amount of water will make my discs rust up.

A: is that normal?

B: can I treat the discs with something to protect them??

thx!

Its perfectly normal. Im not sure if you can treat it with anything but why bother? Just drive your car for 1 min and the rust is all gone,

The rust comes off as soon as you use your brakes again... its just a powdery substance on the surface.

They rust because they're iron! You can't coat them because the friction will wear away the coating.

Ricks2k.com is working on/has stainless steel rotors coming out for our car... apparently they work rather well.

What I really hate are the spots where the rusty drips from the discs dry on the inside of the wheel.

Yeah, the gunk comes off pretty easy if I can get my hand to it - comes right off. I need to invest in some sort of brush to get back where I can't reach....

The only way to prevent rust is to get a rotor that is made out of something that doesn't! For us w/ OEM rotors, a little G2 paint on the inside and some RejeX on the wheel works really well.

one of the only things i did not like about my car was the rusty rotors...
my solution was to replace them with spugen's rotors:
