If those are Volks the lips are clear anodized. That's an entirely different problem.
If the lips truly are just polished than they will be very oxidized. You can get a "metal" polish to take off some oxidation but to get them polished again They need to be re-polished with a buffing wheel and metal compounds.

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but it isn't as simple as sanding your lips and applying wax.
