restoring some wheel
Im buying some used wheels from japan.
They need a little tlc, but Im not a crazy wash guy.
I want to get some of the break dust off of the rims where the rivits are.
there is also some build up of something on the lip, I think I can take some eagle one polish to that and bring back the shine. I dunno.
Can you guys help please

most likely clear coated... be sure not to use acid based cleaners
i would start with p21s wheel cleaner and a brush and see how that does. most likely will do the trick or get 90% of the way there.
eimanns makes a high intensity cleaner that would prob be my next step

and be sure to put a good synthetic on the wheels when they are clean... a few coats would be a good idea
and be sure to post up pics of your process while you are doing the job. most likely will earn you the coveted w&w badge if you pm me after you post!

Wow did a lot of reading on the probuct that you sent me. Sheesh I didn't even knew that they made so much stuff just for wheels 
But I didn't see any of that synthetic stuff that you mentioned unless I missed it DOH !!

i had the same thing on the lips on my old set of blitz rims. i was planning to just polishing the lip to a mirror shine but ended up selling them. i used a steam cleaner for the rivets

well I just cleaned out the rims and the brake dust and some grime also came off, but they still need some work.
The guy at the shop was telling me about taking some fine sandpaper and going around the lip of the rims to get rid of the little scratches and and some of the haze off.
Then they said just to polish up the rim.
The sandpaper thing i can do but the polishing I don't get it. how do you polish something, is it just like waxing your car ?

I recommend not sanding anything until you determine if they'd been clear coated or polished.
Polishing clear coat and paint is much different than polishing raw metal.
Are these wheels for an S2000? They don't look like they'd fit

The lips are polished, and if they were clear coated then most of the clear has been eaten away by the elements 
So I think Im gonna go ahead and do the sandpaper method and then but a wax coat after the polishing.
I think it should hold up well.
Yes those are going on the S the are 17x8+45 17x9+45 and car is gonna be running a little bit of camber to make them fit. These are basically the same size as the enkei's rpf1 that evasive has a group buy on right now !!
