Red Paint on my applicator pad :(
Why is it that every time I put a coat of wax on my hood I see red on the pad? Anywhere else on the car this does not happen?? I bought the car new from a honda dealer so it has not been wrecked or had the hood replaced??

I think I va heard this about other red S2000s (and other red Hondas) in the past. If you can get your thread changed to 'RED paint' on your pad you might get a few more answers.

Thanks, but I can't edit the title. I'll pm wanabe..
let us know what the dealer says- definitely should not be happening.
are you sure its the entire hood? i wonder if they had to repair it.
or maybe forgot to clear coat it.
i will be surprised if the dealer does anything (although they should)- make sure you take it to a "friendly" dealer if you can. check with your local club on this board to see which dealer in your state has been helpful. might not be the closest one!

If the dealers don't wanna help, then you can either take the hood in to a good body shop and have them clear coat it, but that might cost a lot of money and I don't know if it's absolutely necessary (maybe some paint experts here can comment). You can also use waxes that are know not to have any cleaners or abrasives in it. Ones that I can think of off-hand:

Thanks I'll get it looked at. What are my options if no dealers will help? Am I taking paint off every time I wax? Cuz I wax the car alot
but this might be a good reason to use synthetics- they will layer on each other and should prevent the bleeding.
wax wont do this as well... it has to cure to put more coats and they dont last as long.
polishing is the only step where you will be taking off paint, but again it should still be a very very small amount-

Thanks again, when I 1st got the car I must have put 10 coats of Zaino on. Now I alternate between that and a good regular wax. When I use Zaino on my hood it's so hard to get an even coat. The rest of the car is no problem. Something screwy with my hood for sure.
