Default rear window replacement?

my rear window, even through excessive care to keep it nice, is starting to get a foggy strip right though the middle of it. I have kinda accepted the idea that I will have to periodically replace it.

anybody know how much a new rear window costs?

You gotta do the entire top - I don't know the price, but its not going to be cheap. Have you tried the polishes for plastic windows from 3M, Meguire's or Griots?

Actually, you do NOT need to do the entire top. But it's still pretty expensive, since it takes the better part of the day in labor. But go to your dealer first -- many of us have had the top replaced as a "one time good will gesture" -- there's even a TSB out on the tops. Make your case with them, point out what you've done to maintain it and protect it, and you may well get it replaced.

Yes, the window zips out on three sides, but then the bottom is grommetted/rivetted on and they need to remove the rivets there. It's a full day job, and most dealers are subcontracting to a shop that does that sort of work.

I recently took delivery of my S2000 and found that the back window had spots that the dealer could not remove. They kept the car overnight to replace the window, but they provided me with a loaner during the repair period. Before all this took place, I contacted their parts/service department for the cost of replacing the rear window. They quoted me $490. The dealer was Showcase Honda in Phoenix. They did an excellent job.

CRussel,

Is $490 for both parts and labor?

Yes, it was my impression that $490 would cover the complete installation.

Couldn't say, I never got a quote on it (that was uturn). Since my dealer did the entire thing as a warranty replacement, my cost was zero, nada, zippo.
