Default rear glass velcro-like tape falling off

You can put your finger in and slide it between the sides of the rear glass and the top - you will feel/notice some velcro-like tape lying on the glass - mine has come loose on one side and inspecting the other side - this strip of "tape" is very loosly attached.

Has anyone notice/experienced this and taken any action - for all I know it is something that was suppose to come off at the dealer

can you tell what it is there for?
i dont have an '03 helms (shop) manual- maybe someone else here does... that should say whether this is necessary or not.

I studied the manual and it does not mention this strip - and I think the reason is, is that it was taped or glued or whatever to the top not considered a separate part - I am going to try to glue it back - it can't be too funtional but has to be there for a reson I will take pictures - I know others must lose its bond like mine did

If your car is still under warranty I would just bring it in to the dealer and have them fix it. Maybe you'll get a new top out of it!!

update

took my s in for regular servicing - pointed it out and left - just got a call and they took a ride and detected a certain noise top up verses not - the other side is glued not so good - I felt other S and theirs seemed solidily glued

Bottom line - they are replacing the top today - never really expected it but I also never thought that it had something to do with wind - they said it will flap at higher speeds.....

I figured they couldn't just replace one little piece of the top that they would have to replace the whole thing.
