Ran over a plastic bag...
so i was just driving downtown when this big plastic bag gets stuck under the car for about 2 blocks. i pull over and get it out but now my exhaust piping is covered in some nasty looking crud. any suggestions on what i can use to get this stuff off?
also just got back from foxwoods and i ended up running over a cat and hitting a bird in mid flight (really not my night). too tired to have a good look but there seems to be no guts on the car...just a poof of feathers in my rear view

It'll eventually burn off and leave a discoloration on the pipe. If it's underneath in a place you can't see, it doesn't matter. If it's on some part like the shiny tips, then that's more complicated. You may have to use a combination of some sort of organic solvent to dissolve the plastic, then polish up the chrome after.

the discoloration has definitely begun. there's gotta something i can use? won't using a blow torch ruin the pipe?
You never stated where it's stuck on. If it's unseen, do you really care if it stains? If you feel you must get it off, then use a fine grit sand paper and sand it off carefully.
If it's on the chrome tips, then you'll need to use more care with the acetone and be sure to polish it up well afterwards.
