and for me the secret is a brush with the products that the guys above mentioned...
i usually use a brush with car shampoo- rinse, dry and then protect with 303, vinylex, or raggtopp for vinyl
btw, it does depend on the stain... above for most "normal" stains-
do you know what caused yours?

I had a white haze I couldn't get off my top no matter I tried. Meguiar's 39 cleaned it up. I followed that with Meguiar's 40. Made the top look brand new. I couldn't find it at the store so I bought on their website.
