Oh and the "guy from Honda" could be talking about the added material on the inside to help prevent early wear on the top (where it meets the bows)
...or he could just not have a clue
again it's quite simple, just get a convertible top treatment for a vinyl top (like 303) . The document I posted simply puts it a form of writing rather than our word

I've always wondered--what kind of cleaner would you buy to use on a MY00? I've just been using soap--but have been trying to get a protectant. Also, I have that damn plastic window--I have some cleaner that works well and I use rain-x as a polish. What does everyone else use?

303 protectant is good for the hood. Not sure f you are using rain X on he rear plastic window or as a polish on the body work but it should not be used in either. At least theuk version says not to use in plastics or painted finishes

I definately dont use rainx on paint--only on glass. However, the bottle I have says that you can use on clear plastics and specifically says safe to use on plastic windows. I've been using for awhile and hasnt done any harm thus far. I will definately have to try the 303 though--I've been looking for something like that for awhile. Thanks

Defintely Plexus for the Plastic rear windows. Check a motorcycle shop if for some reason you can't find it in any other store. Motorcycle shops are good places to find out about plastic window care as they have been using plastic wind screens for a long time.
