Putting a new clear over carbon fiber
Ok so I have a lot of clear scratches on my hood and a few imperfections that I want to get rid of. I am wanting to sand the gel coat down on my J's Racing 1x1 weave hood and re- clear it but wanted to get some information first.
I need to know what is the best clean to use for this?
I have heard that there is a specific clear that is better for CF products. Thanks

i sanded down my carbon fiber hood on my other car and it was so smooth, i clearcoated it, probably should've laid in on thicker, i sanded afterwards and it looked decent but a few months later it looked like crap again. not sure if you need some uv protectant or what.

Before you re-clear it why dont you just try wet sanding it down with 1500 wet sand paper and polishing it again? its worth a shot before you re-clear. Im a fellow carbon fiber nut. i also own an auto body repair shop. Ive done on my hood and trunk before and it worked out great, i speak from experience. Let us know if you give it a shot.

i had a cf hood on my prelude for a lil while in the past and it looked like doo doo after a while, i took it to a body shop and they sanded it down and sprayed a uv coating on it and it never faded after that
