Anyone have an idea if I can power a porter cable with my cigarette lighter? Also, can a porter cable be used for regular waxing as well? Thanks.

The Porter is only 120volts. You could buy an inverter and run it off a car battery but it pulls 3.7 amps. It's not going to work for long. You'll need a continuous 500 watt inverter with a peak of 1000.

You'll need a deep cycle marine battery to power a 500 watt inverter. With a 100 amp hour battery you could run the buffer for 1.75-2 hours.

Damn, the drawbacks of living in an apartment complex. Thanks for the answer though!
