Default Products for Ridding Surface of Wax

I've heard of several solutions such as isopropryl alcohol (same thing as rubbing alcohol?), denatured alcohol, DuPont Prepsol, dish washing soap, etc. What products do you guys recommend for stripping the surface of wax, contaminants , etc to repair paint chips and install a side strake, front lip, etc without damaging the clear coat.

I forgot to mention that I prefer an easily accessible product (something that I can grab off the shelfs).

Id guess that any alcohol or dishwashing liquid might work. I t would definatly take some of the wax off but to insure all wax is removed you need to use a light grade polish . Start with the soap or alcohol if you prefer and finish up with the polish to insure all wax is removed..

Clay and lube won't remove your wax or sealants. If your just prepping a small area as in around your paint chips, or a small area that needs to be prepped for applying adhesive, use straight isopropyl alchohol (which is the same thing as rubbing alchohol).

If you're wanting to do your whole car, so as to start over fresh with a new product, then dilute it 1:1 with distilled water, and mist/wipe each panel one at a time....or instead you could just polish it with whatever flavor of polish you'd like. Personally I like Optimum and Menzerna/Blackfire polishes.
