problems with 3m clearbras films?
I want to get the clearbra installed and one of the installers claims he does not use
the 3m products anymore due to adhesive problems, he now uses a film by avery
which is 8 mil and has a 7 year warranty. Has anyone else used any avery products and if so was it good? He claims 3m is trying to correct problems with
their film, I have not heard about any problems by anyother installers, what do
you think? His price was 700$ for mirrors, headlights, front lip, front bumper and fenders and hood. If 3m went to a new film wouldn't they advertise it? thanks for any responses.

I had a person film my car and he used
Avery
for 320.00 cash
took about 1.5 hours
my friend had his done at the same time... Z4 and 8 month later
the film lost all shine. It is out doors and waxes it only a couple times
my car looks fine.... but I use the special film cleaner and its in the garage all the time
I'm lot sold on avery
700 sound a bit high in price

Maybe this installer elected to go to a much cheaper alternative so as to be more competitive. Sounds to me he's doing a "sales pitch" on you to get you to go with his new product. To the best of my knowledge, 3M has never had any issues with their film, but it is in a price bracket that's up there.

I spoke to another film installer, it's true ,3m has a new film out its suppose to not yellow as fast as the original. Up to 3 months ago there was a major problem with the adhesive glue on 3m films, apparently it has been resolved. Alot of installers have now gone with the avery films, and claim zero problems. They say the avery film is easier to apply. Since 3m has corrected their initial problems I think I will go with their film. I spoke to someone who had a garage queen and only took it out for shows, and his white car yellowed within the first month of application. Apparently there was alot of yellowing with the older 3m film. Has anybody had this happen to them? Know wonder they give a five year warranty! The price of the new film has really gone up!
