Default porter cable pad not turning

Hi guys,
I have a fairly new Porter Cable and I just started using it on my boat to remove some faded gelcoat. I just realized, after working way too long, that my pad is barely turning? It makes no difference if I turn it up to 6. I am using a 5 in. pad?
Is there a clutch or something that causes the pad to stop when pressure is applied?
Thanks in advance

The PC will bog down and not spin if you apply too much pressure (safety feature). 5" pads should spin fine, what size is your backing plate?

You should put a mark on your backing plate to see if you're pushing too hard that it stalls. If you need to cut more, switch to a 4" pad (& appropriately sized backing plate).
