I would highly suspect it's the XP. The original was mostly made in the USA. PC will tighten up there QC and fix the issue (probably already done) From reading on these post people are saying the first gen GG DA had major issues. I wouldn't be too discouraged. Play the % game and you'll see that you are much more likely to get (either a PC or GG) machine that will last you for years to come of polishing goodness.

Yup, the first GG was not so good, and even the current one isn't perfect, but so long as if it does break, it does so internally and they send me a new one, wont really bother me. I

that is the 1st gen and not the XP tho
at post # 15, the OP says he bought the PC XP, which makes me believe his 1st post refers to the 1st gen PC(rather than PC XP) that broke. lol i could be wrong tho

Oh, that link, yeah, you're right, that's the older model, but a newer version of it, after the Mexico move and cheapened up. Still an example of degraded quality.

^its very beginner friendly!! just read up on pads/polishers, proper washing techniques, proper claying, and proper way to use a PC (slow and steady will get the job done, you shouldn't be afraid of burning paint)
you'll get addicted once u start
