For those with experience what is the general work time for Poorboys ssr1 and ssr2? The bottles call out to work the product until it starts dusting, but on speed 5 it seems the product disappears before it starts to turn from liquid to "dust" for me.

I have limited use with these products and the PC in general so I'm trying to make sure I'm not over working the product or underworking the product and wasting.

I have the edge 2000 pads and last night I did my trunk with ssr2- orange pad, ssr1- orange pad, then followed with ssr1 on blue pad. it came out about 95% swirl free but i think it needs another pass. I attempted on my hood but the swirls seemed too deep or Im not working the product properly. After a pass with SSR2 and SSR1 on the orange pad about 50% of swirls were gone, but i still had a lot left. Would u reccomend getting maybe green pad and/or ssr2.5/ssr3???

Last: If i work the product too long is that going to A. not do anything because the PC needs the product to have the buffing effect or B. Mess up the paint because the pads need the liquid as a lube as to not add unneeded swirls themselves?

Also- im not opposed to trying other brands of prodcuts, but i kinda wanted to stick with poorboys so i have their line of products and could possibly more easily figure out my starting point as far as product to use on swirls and marring.

The answer to your last question is B.

I'm not really sure how to answer your other questions though. I always got LOTS of dust when using Poorboy's which is one reason I no longer use it. Basically with any polish you want to buff until the polish turns translucent. You don't need to wait for dust.

haha thanks wannabe and mikey for you input. ill be sure to to not overwork the product. i find it odd i get no dust and you had too much mikey. i work on speed 5. maybe im working at incorrect speed?

the reason why i chose poorboys in the first place was because i initially heard good things and i like that they can be worked in the sun which is where 95% of my detailing will be done on my car.

i think i may order ssr2.5 and see what happens with that. i dont want to get too aggressive of products. id rather work longer than harsher with my little experiance.

Most of their SSR products dust fairly bad, which is unfortunate because the results are usually very good. I am a big Poor Boy's fan, but you just have to take extra measures and take steps to insure that the dust doesnt get into bad places.

Use speed 6 - I've found that anything less is typically ineffective with the PC unless you're applying wax/sealant at speed 1.

With PB's you will have to wash the car again after you polish because of the dust. With that said, I do like and use the polishes.

What I found that really helped me to understand really what a properly worked polish looks like was using halogens in a dark garage (or at night). It's easy to spot paint defects such as light scratches and swirls, as well as spotting haze left by underworked or more abrasive compounds.
