polished gauge cluster
well, i did this before on my old 03, took a lot of the fine scractches out and gave it a nice shine. today, i did this on my 06, and i noticed something when i was doing it. the more and more i did it, there was a spot in the center that was getting bigger and bigger as i went. in the end it came out pretty good, but i was just curious what this was that was happening....a layer being taken off? hopefully not a protective layer. any help would be great!

i noticed in direct sunlight the face of the cluster looks a little hazy, very very fine scratches.

i assume by hand?
try some plexus next- it can fill in light swirls- or maybe the plastx lightly back and forth first then the plexus (if you used the plastx in circular fashion).

its just wierd how it seemed that a layer of some sort came off, maybe a protective coating? i will definitley give that plexus a shot.
thanks!
edit: would it be okay to use some type of wax(synthetic) to fill in some of the swirls, or would that be a big no no to use on plastic?

make sure that your cloths are new or in very good shape- easy to swirl plastic with nylon stitched edged rags or cloths that are not completely clean.

well, i polished some more with plastX, using a cobra mircofiber. after using this stuff it seemed to really 'dry' out the plastic. so i rubbed in some NXT, which seemed to give it a bit more of a shine and take away some of the 'dry' look. sun is going down, so cant see what it looks like in direct sunlight, but hopefully the wax took care of some of them.
do you think that NXT coat should stay on there for a while considering it wont see rain, car washes, etc.?
