Default Peeling paint? Old wax?

Hey, sorry that this isn't an S2000 post (can't afford one ) but this is my favorite car forum and I know the Wash & Wax guys are knowledgeable! So I hope you can help me with this problem.

I just bought a 93 Probe GT to replace my 94 Probe SE. The problem comes with the paint. It seems it's peeling off? But I believe it is wax. See the pictures for yourselves:

What is that stuff? I tried 3M adhesive and wax removal but that didn't seem to work. I really like the deep blue color, don't tell me I'll have to get a paint job. Thanks for your help, guys.

And I've got rims coming, don't worry

What about the affected areas? Will the paint be restored? I've heard that it might be oxidation.

New paint should clear that up. Get it.
