Paint Chips!

Paint Chips!
i leave my car out in the rain for 4 days (which i have never done before) and now i see my front end is battered with rock chips, i think. they are little white specks of different sizes, some of whch scrape off and the others are stuck there. i tried washing them off, detailing, and now i've painted over a few, but there are too many! has anyone had this happen before? maybe i drove on a rough road and don't remember? i guess i'll try to find a buffer and see if it comes out easy but this really sucks.

although i am a bit baffled by what you say about being able to scrape some of them off...
guess we need some pics posted up- sounds pretty strange to me

thanks for the links. i'm gonna try just clay barring it since many of the spots aren't really like chips, but just...specs. i guess if that doesn't work then i'll have to buy a pc. i've never buffed before, what kind of pad/lubricant do you need to just do a straight buff?
on another topic, a small section of my rear bumper had been touched up by the dealer, but it's still noticeable. would any body shop sand and repaint only a section of the bumper?

i still would like to see some pics-
if the spots are coming off they are not chips... and i agree that clay might be a place to start. i would prefer to try to identify them first.
if you pick one off, are they soft or hard?
before you go to the pc and the polish route lets try to see if we can solve this by some other method...
red paint is hard to match, so it depends on how bad your rear bumper is- but to answer your question, yes a dealer can do part of a bumper... its not likely that they would want to though cause it really is not much more work to do the whole thing and that has the best chance of solving your problem.
i think i would prefer a high end body shop over your honda dealer- a place that does exotic cars or maybe an nsx shop.

Perhaps you should consider 3M Paint Protection Film. It's a clear urethane film designed to prevent rock chips and bug acids from eating into the paint.
3M is developing a greatly improved version of this product. Many of the licensees of UltraShield, www.ultrashieldusa.com, are operating as "test cells" for this new product. The second iteration was just released and it is absolutely phenomenal!

sorry for the delayed response guys. I used the clay bar and 80% of the spots came off. u can only notice the few that are left up close. It took about 3 goings over, and the next sunny day i'm gonna go over it again. I have to find out how much it will cost to repaint that bumper. Any ideas? It's just annoying to have a flaw on such a nice car.
