ok, I'm rapidly becoming very anal about my car
My car, prior to yesterday, was spotless. Got some rain that put a little ugly coating of crap on my car. Nowhere near as bad as the rain/wind today that blew all kinds of dust, etc on my baby and then left water marks.
I've got a couple of shortish 2-3 hour road trips coming up tomorrow and thursday, and I just didn't want my car looking like crap, cause I know the whole time I'd be staring at the nasty spots on the hood and getting pissed.
SOooooooo, tonight, when I get home from my board meeting at 9:30, I wash my car. IT's getting cold, the water was totally frigid, but I've gotta say, she looks great once again and I know that for tomorrow at least, I won't have to be staring at a dirty car!!!
I'm wondering if at some point this will wear off, but so far, it's only getting worse.....

welcome to the club!
it gets worse... and you start trying to handle all of the problems-
before you know it, you will be working on heating the garage so you can detail in there!
best choice- get a beater car, if you can, for bad weather days.

It's been nearly 3 years now since I bought my S and I've become even more picky about how she looks!
I don't wash my car very often, almost on a daily basis, I clean it up by misting on Final Inspection detailing spray and then remove it with a Microfiber towel. In about 5 minutes I'm done(no cold hands). And the car has that 'just waxed look'!

stwok- i have a similar routine (which includes using a glass cleaner on the windows and sometimes the wheels)... not as often, but i do dust it regularly.
this might not work for a car that gets rained on though, as it can pick up grit from the road.
catfish- forgot to ask if you got those water spots off... if not, let me know and i will give you the "old detailers" secret for those!
