Oil mess in engine compartment
Hi guys,
During one of our club's group drives, a participant didn't have his oil cap tight enough. After a two hour drive, the cap blew off causing oil to spew all over the engine bay and hood insulation. Can anyone offer any tips or advice on cleaning this mess? Can the hood insulation be removed and cleaned?
I'm thinking about using a good degreaser and plenty of garden hose spray. Or would a steam cleaner be a better option?
Any and all tips are much appreciated!

i would first try non steam... but you might have to go there for the insulation.
a good aio would be my first try.
also, see our engine cleaning thread-
i will track down the link

most of what is in here applies:

be careful with the insulation- it can be somewhat fragile, especially under any pressure.

I read about that one. I was under the impression that the Honda dealer where he dropped it was cleaning it.
I have had oil issues with other cars and have found that 777 APC works well and is VERY cheap. I think AutoMagic makes it. Another good one is Poorboy's APC. With either one, you spray it on, let it soak a few seconds, wipe, and then carefully rinse. You want to limit the amount of water as to limit and issues.
