Default NorthernDetailed: 2006 Ford F150

I recently did like the Twankster and sold the s2k to get a truck. I needed it to tow the "racier" car to the track. This is a 2006 Ford F150 with 45k on the odometer, great truck, rides super smooth and pulls nice enough for a gas. The interior is really the icing on the cake. The trim makes it feel very upscale, the sunroof makes it feel spacious, and the radio is pretty good. Seats are supportive and feel "upscale" too. I love the truck, but have not been able to tow the car yet. Further, I am now selling this one too! I have a chance to get a larger truck (see sig) basically for free, so I'm jumping on it. This is on Autotrader and will be on ebay soon.

Anyways, on to the detail.

Wheels washed with Meguiar's Wheel Brightener
Exterior washed with pressure washer and Meguiar's Gold Class in foam gun
Clayed with Griots clay (cut into small pieces - used two)
Polished via rotary:
Meguiar's #105 on 8" orange pad
Menzerna Nano Polish via white CCW pad
Menzerna Final Finish via black CCW pad

LSP: Zaino Z5 + ZFX x 2 + Finish Kare #425 as quick detailer

All exterior plastic (bed edge trim, mirrors, lip, bumper insert) was treated with Black WOW and buffed out to not be too shiny
All rubber seals (windows, rear glass, sunroof, all door seals) were treated with Einszett GummiPfledge

Undercarriage, Engine, and Spray-On bedliner were cleaned with Meguiar's Super Degreaser and coated with Detailer's Pride Hyper Dressing at 2:1 (very slight gloss)

Glass cleaned with Stoner's Glass Cleaner

Interior cleaned with Detailer's Pride Interior Cleaner followed by Poorboy's natural dressing (first time using this).

Truck came out good. Next time I use Meg's #105 I will follow with another step to reduce the hazing. I also plan to do another coat or 2 of zaino sometime this week. This truck has tons of plastic! Getting Black WOW was time consuming, and once this stuff gets on paint it is difficult to get off (as it smears forever). How do you Black WOW users keep it off the paint?

pretty clean fromt he get-go:

Very slight swirling, but the hood was worse which convinced me to do the #105 and improve the "orange peel" a bit:

Looks Nice

I like ford trucks a lot. Had 2 of them in the past.

I do have to say, I am not fond of the look of the newer interiors. Hopefully they change it up on the '09 or '10. Seats are a little too blocky for me, and I don't like the curve of the dash over the gauge cluster. Just my $.02 of course.

That thing looks great!

You'll love the Cummins powered Dodge - there's something very satisfying about owning a giant diesel-powered truck. I miss my 2001 Excursion diesel every day.

How does the Dodge stack up to the Ford in terms of build quality? I've never been in a current generation Dodge truck.

Hey Matt! You should have seen me try to stuff this in my garage! There was about an inch between the front wall, garage door and the truck. I had to jump into the bed to get from one side of the truck to the other while detailing. Other than that, I got the garage set up right now to be able to wash, dry, polish.

I'm hoping it is at least as good. This Ford seems to be put together pretty well, and 45k miles it has no rattles, squeaks or vibrations.

That truck looks great and your detail looks pretty awesome too! I absolutely LOVE diesel trucks, but I would never own anything but a Ford. Im sure it will tow your "racier" car much better than the F150 will though, good luck! Its a sad day to let the s2k go, but you gotta do what you gotta do!

BTW, I love my new ranger.
