Thumbs down noob to detailing got some quick questions...

Hello everyone,

I had some quick questions...regarding the compounds and pads that came with my order (detailers domain's Huge PC Group Buy). For those that are not familiar with it, it includes the following:

Porter Cable 7424 Variable Speed Polisher
Backing plate for PC
32 oz. Menzerna Intensive Polish PO91E
32 oz. Menzerna Nano Polish PO 106 FA
32 oz. Menzerna Finishing Glaze PO 115C
Einszett Glanz (for your last step)
CCS Orange 5.5 Inch Light Cutting Foam Pad
CCS White 5.5 Inch Polishing Foam Pad
CCS Blue 5.5 Inch Finessing Foam Pad
CCS Red 5.5 Inch UltraSoft Wax/Sealant Foam Pad
2 Uber MF Towels (Blue 16x24)

I ordered this kit because I'm planning on selling my S2000 soon and it needed a nice detail. I heard so much good stuff about the pc and the products that came with the kit I decided to give it a try. I hardly ever drive my s2000 anymore and I actually haven't washed it in quite some time...I know I know... lol

Well I had some pretty bad water spots on the car and with that, I followed the directions from others thread and I started with the orange pad and the intensive polish. It kinda worked but from certain angles it is still there. Especially with a light on it. Sorry no pics but my question is does anyone know if I just need a more harsh compound and pad? Please let me know. I just spent a lot of time in the freakishly hot weather (even in my garage) that we are having, going at it on my car and there isn't a big difference...so disappointing. Please Help!!

Thanks in advance

You can try a yellow pad but you may have some etching or piting that won't come out unless you take your clear coat down to nothing. In that case just try to minimize it the best you can.

Most likely it has etched through the clear. The best thing to try is wetsanding.. but even that will only minimize the etchings even more. if it's through the clear, to make them be gone for good would require new paint job on the panel..

thanks for the advice guys. I just said screw it and finished it up. Didn't take any pics yet. Oh well.

So from what you guys are saying from using a harsher more abrasive compound I will just kill the clearcoat? Or could it be the intesive polish just really isnt that intensive? I guess I just have to do more research before buying next time.

To get rid of the problem you have to remove the clear to the lowest point of the pit. If it's deep then it's not worth killing your clear coat, IMO.
