Nicks on my hood. =(
I went on a long weekend drive with the Central Texas crew about a month ago and proceeded to not wash my car for about 2.5 weeks (just couldn't find the time). When I finally cleaned all the grime off of my car, I noticed that I had a few nicks on my hood. =( I'm wondering whether this could have been due to the dirt and grime sitting on my car for so long or whether it is more likely to have been gravel and whanot being kicked up onto my car. Any thoughts?
Also, what is the best way to take care of my car now? Those small nicks are deep enough that I can see metal now.
I'm kicking myself for not reapplying Zaino (it had 4 coats that were about 6 month old on it)...

When I found a nasty nick on my hood deep enough to show base metal, I almost killed myself. I bought a touch-up paint and some tooth picks. Spent all night to fill up the nick as best I could but in the end wasn't satisfied with the result. So I decided to repaint the whole hood. But I was mad when I saw the repainted hood b/c there were so many "dust-spots." Put a piece of 1st aid tape for each one of those spots and demanded the paintshop people to fix it! They spend about 2 hours to wet sand it out and it was free! I know I'm anal . Then I followed up with InvisBra. Pretty good investment esp. if you have a black car.

Look into buying a Auto Sharp Pen from Autovisuals in California.I can't recall the web address but they have a toll free number (877)701-7780.This product is a felt tip pen with touch up paint inside and runs about $20.00.It's simple to use and you never have the problem of using to much paint to fill a chip. The paint code number for black is NH547

Zaino may reduce the likelihood, but I wouldn't say it will prevent them, since I just found a small chip on my lower door. I just applied four coats over the past week.
