Yep, although the "race" car, not really a race car just a track bitch going to open track days and drift events.
40K miles break-in - wow!

Those motors will run and run and run. I think the rebuild interval from Cummins is 350K! My Ford's Power Stroke was "only" 250K.

What sort of track car? Another S2000? You towing an enclosed trailer?

<-- Recovering club racer, as if you can't figure that out for yourself

If I hit the lotto, I'm going to find a high mileage AP1, and build it into an Improved Touring R club racing car. SCCA's got it listed really heavy, but I think it'd be a horse of a race car. Highest factory horsepower rating of any car in the class - next highest is a late model 300ZX, at 222HP.

I just thought of something you should be on the lookout for when you detail it the first time.

I just finished a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 last week. When I was washing it the first time, I noticed that the roof is made of what has to be the thinnest sheetmetal I've ever seen. You could deform it with nearly zero pressure.

I've no idea if a 2008 would be like this, but it was *so* thin, that I avoided using the buffer on it altogether. I was afraid the weight of the machine would cause me to put creases in the roof - not good.

Just an FYI.

I have a 1998 M3 coupe I thrash around. No classes, no special rules or mods. I just improve things once I "outgrow" them. Been taking it to the track for around 5 years now, the first 3 were bone stock. I wanted to wait until I felt the car was limiting me before changing anything. There is nothing like being able to floor the car all around the track , which you should now of in the S2k

I took my bone stock S2k to the tracks a few times and loved it. I was about half to 1 second slower than the M3 per lap back when it had coilovers and Intake/Exhaust (both cars running the poormans sticky street tire: Kumho MX). But still I prefer the M3 as a track car. I'm more comfortable in it, and the extra torque helps with the drifting events. Also, my local tracks are becoming nazis and were already "asking" I install a cage or drop a class in the S2k (both unacceptable).

If I hit the lotto I have no idea what I would do!

I wanted black, really...

j/k, it was going to be either black, white, or silver. The only other color for 2008 is that weird burgundy red...

I used to work for Chrysler LLC (9 years), and took a separation package a few weeks ago. Part of the package was this voucher.
