Default New to washing and waxing

I just got my S a couple days ago (2007 GPW) And I am VERY new to all this washing and waxing stuff. Before on my camry, I didn't usually care what soap I used and what technique to use at that ... I need a bit of advice, when I finally get around to washing my car for the first time, what are the steps to washing and waxing?
for an example ... do I
-wash
-wax/polish (same thing right?)
-detail (planning on using the ICE detailing spray)

and also, what are some over the counter brands of wash/polish/detailing that I could pick up at autozone or kragens? I searched for a bit and seemed like a lot of people were using either Maguires or Zaino. But I heard those two were hard to find at autozone or kragens. thanks!

Thanks a lot guys for the help, I washed and waxed for the first time today, tell me what you guys think.

I used Meguiars Wax and Car shampoo, and for the interior I used turtle wax F21 leather and vinyl cleaner/protectant.
