Default New paint care

We just got a new stable mate for the S2000. My wife got a new Civic Si today with 14 mi. from the factory. I asked the dealer to forgo wax or sealant but it looks like they used some kind of green synthetic wax to prep the car. Having said that here are my plans..........

1) Wash with Dawn detergent to remove dealer wax.
2) buff with P21S paint cleanser. (happen to have this)
3) seal paint with either Klasse SG or Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant

The paint is about 3 weeks old with no swirl marks or defects that I can see. I don't think it needs claying. The wife doesn't want to drive the car until the paint is sealed, so post up comments or criticisms. I have a PC with Edge pads.

Why are you washing the car with Dawn? The P21S paint cleanser will remove any wax on the car.

I would expect that the car will need to be clayed, so plan on this. As an additional item, sealing the clear plastic would be high on my list. Wolfgang makes a plastic sealant which is good. The paint sealant might give similar results.
Waxing the wheels will make them easier to keep clean and maintain as well, especially if you wax the INSIDES of the wheel. I usually remove the wheels so i can get inside all the nooks and crannies. Ive used cheapo turtle wax and Wolfgang sealant on the wheels with similar results.

Thanks for all of the replies. I ended up doing this........

1) wash and dry
2) clay paint
3) seal paint with Wolfgang deep gloss sealant.
4) seal wheels with Klasse SG

The end result came out very nice indeed!

Try this neat trick, get a plastic grocery bag, like the ones from Walmart ect..

Put your hand in it and use it as a glove. Genlty feel the surface of your paint, the plastic bag will enhances the feel of any dirt and grime that is on the surface therefore you will feel more dirt/grime that is stuck on the surface than you will with your bare hands.

Don't ask me why or how this happens b/c I don't know but I know it works. You will feel the difference.
