Default need some help! swirls!

Ok guys long story short a lady was in my lane on a country road and caused me to spin and rub up againest a tree line. I need a new rear bumper becuase mine is cracked and I had some scratches down the side of the car because of tree branches. Well I normally use my friends da but he wasn't home so I had to use my other friends big hoss of a buffer! It was a 12 inch buffer non da. it was hard to work with but got all of the scatches off my BB s2k! thank god!

Now for the bad news! In the light I couldn't see the swirls but at night they are really really bad! I used m105 and m205 to buff it btw. If I use the da tomarrow and just use m205 on it will it take out the swirls or what do I need to do? I'm freaking out!

m205 should be able to take out the swirls. You got pictures? Hopefully it is just swirls and not anything else.

The pictures you posted are what are called holograms. Berlina Black paint is VERY VERY soft.

M105 will no doubt cause those holograms. Your best bet is with the DA and m205. And lots and lots and lots of slow, steady, medium pressure passes.

No doubt the holograms caused by m105 are deep. Also, what polisher and pads did you use on this "12 inch big mother"?

I used what ever pad he had on it, I'm really unsure and as for the polisher I'm unsure also exactly but they kind of look like this...
pad

buffer was this style but not this one

It was heavy and hard to control. it worked me pretty good but I was able to get rid of all the scatches from the trees and as most of you would... I was freaking out and willing to use what ever I could get my hands on.

If that is called "holograms" then thats what they are. They show up at night alot better then during the day. I didn't even see them until night but the whole side of my car where I used the buffer it put these "holograms" all over it.

Yep a wool pad and heavy compound like M105 will do it.

You've got a lot of work ahead of you to get rid of them

Fixable? Probably.

There's no silver bullet to detailing. In order to "fix" this, you need a DA (Flex) or RO (porter cable) an assortment of pads, and maybe more than just M205.

Knowing how to properly break down the polish, and knowing how to polish properly will be able to net you decent results.

I'd suggest reading MikeyC's detailing guide that's stickied at the top of this forum. it's a damn good guide.

I've buffed my car before just never with a orbital buffer. Its always been a DA. Heres a link to my first time ever buffing...

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...&#entry17204981

as you can see I had extremly good results just had bad ones with the orbital. hopfully I can fix my mistakes with a DA tomarrow or thursday.
