depends on what you will be doing... wax wont set up very well in the 40s-

and you can increase your temps quite a bit by being in a garage, especially one with a heater. or wash the car, drive a mile or so and put the car in the garage with doors closed- will warm up the garage a bit so you can work a bit easier.
best yet is a combo- heat the garage and heat the car...

if you have access to a garage, halogen lights can also add a lot of heat and give you better visability for polishing. sears usually has 1000w tripod setup on sale for 20 bucks

I've found that you can wash your car in the 30's then move it into the garage for drying. You will need it a bit warmer to really detail though.

The problem I experience with detailing in colder temperatures is that if you plan to polish, it won't work! My menzerna doesnt spread too well when it's cold.

Alrighty. So it's gunna be mid 40's friday, and saturday. And sunday it's supposed to be 54... In my garage it usually is about... 10-20 warmer than what it is outside, cause it can be like.... 9 degrees, and I go out to my car, and the snow melt on my car, is still melted. So I'm thinking my garage should be warm enough to do a detail. But then I'm driving Monday, and gunna do my waxes after it, You guys have any recommendations for cleaning the surface before I apply the waxes? I'm thinking so QD should do just fine. I probably will apply it all by hand applicator, and not use my PC in the parking lot of the hotel...

But any other recommendations for surface prep?
Perferrably stuff thats readily available OTC.
