"They are not. In fact, the back side of most wheels are lucky to get anything more than just grey primer.

we had a question posted on the wash & wax forum which i did not know the answer to-
i do know that our wheels are clear coated on the outsides-
but what about the insides??
are they clear coated too? they dont look like it, but i also know that you cant always tell by looks...

Grey primer is still paint whether there's clear coat there or not. I'm not saying the inside of the wheel will be sparkly and shiney like the outside, but it's definitely painted.

I can't speak for the AP2 wheel ... but there is no way the inside of the AP1 wheel is painted. It appears to be uncoated aluminum or aluminum alloy. That is why I am concerned about the use of Wheel Brightener.
Can someone jump in and say they have used this product on the insides of an AP1 wheel without problems? I need something stronger than p21s to remove the salt discolorization on the "barrel" of the inside of the wheel.

Seriously, tho... A fully detailed car includes the wheel wells and the inside of the wheels.
