Default Meguiar vs Optimum vs Menzerna

I'm about to replace all my pads and polish/cut compounds to try something new.

I currently use Lake Country Original Pads (Yellow/Orange/White) 6.5" and Optimum Original Cut and Polish compounds. I apply and remove wax by hand so I don't think I've ever used my white pad.

Can anyone recommend a good repertoire (I'm also in Canada)?

I'm feeling the Meguair's #105 Ultra Cut + #205 Ultra Finishing Polish seems to be good. With the Hydro-Tech Lake Country Pads (Blue/Orange)

Please advise

(I can also get Griots/Chemical Guys/PoorBoys/Sonax/Wolfs) if you wish to comment on those products too.

I used the Meguair's 105 and 205 on my M3 and Camry. It took 2-3 goes for the 105 to cut through all those swirl marks on the BMW. It took only 1 pass with the 105 to cover up a scratch on the Camry. Either way, I really didn't like the amount of product dusting that came from the megs. They did their job and the swirls are gone.

I read online that Menzerna products have very little dust and are good for our soft paint, so I bought a maximum shine kit from autogeek with free shipping. It's coming UPS today and I'll probably start polishing the S this Memorial Day weekend.

I too have lake country pads orange, blue, gray, white.

BTW they have free shipping today as well

I recently did my s2k using Pinnacle Advanced Swirl Remover on an orange pad. I will admit some of the paint was looking a bit neglected, even had some oxidation on the trunk lid. This stuff worked great, made practically zero dust. As I worked it with the DA, I could watch as scratches and even the edges of chips soften and practically disappeared. My 2002 looks new again. Followed it up with polish and sealant (Klasse). I took it to an s2k meet yesterday and got numerous compliments on the paint. If only they'd seen it a few weeks ago, lol...

Depends on how bad your swirls are Dom, from what I seen of your car it isn't too bad at all. For heavy swirls the megs is hard to beat. For 2500 grit swirls I'd go with Menzerna. Always go with the mildest cut that will do the job so you don't remove more material than necessary. I used a really mild Menzerna micro polish on my car and even that worked really well. From their current line-up I like their Power Finish as it can save you one step in the polishing process, otherwise their Super Intensive polish is great for rougher paint needing a higher cut. http://www.eshine.ca/menzerna_power_..._32oz-1523.php

I think I'm going to switch from Foam pads to MF Meguiar's. Try either their DA #300 Cut (not the #105 Ultra Cut) OR Go with the New Optimum line (according so some reviews/pictures it does a good job with little Dust, almost or as good as Ultra Cut with longer work times and less dust).

Either way All the above products are great, just curious to see if I could relate to them compared to the Optimum products I currently use (last gen)

Thanks, I have a mess on my hands. I hope to do some chip filler and sand down from 320-500-800-1200-1500-CUT-POLISH as well.

If time allows of course, things have been busy on my end.

Thank you for your comments.

I just used Menzerna SF4500 with great results on my finish which had some gasoline oxidation, water spots (long story on both accounts) and some extremely fine swirls.
