Car is 3/4 clayed (also my first time at that!) and it is just amazing what the clay pulled out of the paint - much smoother now. I would hav finished, but I need a new bar of clay it got so dirty. This bar came with the Zaino kit, but I'll be finishing up with Mother's or Pinnacle, since they are available locally.
PC, pads and polish arrivedl I love the smell of Poorboy's 2.5!

PC was interesting! It seems to load itself so that is does not rotate as rapidly (although the orbital speed is the same) once in contact with the surface. Is this normal? The Poorboy's SSR 2.5 seemed to do a great job once I got the hang of it, but it seems to have a working time of FOREVER - never could get it to dry like the Pinnacle polish in the video MikeyC linked. Still, results were obtained Along with a ton of dust. I almost wish I had gotten smaller pads for starting off, tho.
See my other thread for some pics.
Thanks to you all for convincing me I could do this - I think I will be able to master it!

Working on the Miata today - I wonder if I'm doing something wrong - have been over the entire car with SSR2.5 and am goig back with SSR1 now. The gloss is amazing, but I still have tons of swirls. And I am still not sure the pads are orbiting correctly - they seem to want to unvelcro and shift quite easily.... Also they do not rotate if I put any pressure at all on the machine other than its own weight. They just orbit.
Hmmm

OK, I'm done for the day - see my other post in Professional Detailer... for some pics.
I hate the pads I got. Someone recommend some decent ones? I go the Detailer's Paradise ones, and the hook and loop did not hold worth a dang.
The SSR2.5 seemed to work TOO quickly - I could barely get it spread before it emulsified (Ysing a DP yellow pad). Most of the good I did was with a DP Orange pad and SSR1.
I'm ready to try different pads and product next time; unfortunately, my workplace is in the sun and I have no real alternative. Suggestions?
thanks,
Dave

pull behind a building or wall or something that will block the sun fora while and go to work. either that or ask a friend or neighbor if you can use their garage for a few hours if you are finding the product is drying up too fast. Also you can save your old clay bars for windows too, i guess if they are horible, maybe not, but i use one that is too old for paint for windows. Go luck with the experiment man.
