I apologize if this question has been answered before.
I am trying to find a good place to wash my car, but living in an apartment, it hasn't been easy. I did however find one of those manula wash places, where you put in a few quarters and it lefts you spray soap, water and wax on your car.
I am not sure if this is a good idea. Any suggestions?
Thanks

I used to have that problem. I'd say that if that's your only option, just do not ever ever ever use the brush they have. Ever. Never ever.
If you can (most places won't let you) - bring a bucket, wash mitt, and a good car soap with you. Use only a light spray from the wand, don't use the heavy spray except perhaps on the wheels. NEVER around the seal of the top.
Good luck w/ that.

If you don't have any family members near by that you can go to, you might want to try a friends home. Even if you have to offer some $$$ for it. It would be worth it to baby your car as much as possible.

i agree with the above posts... if you end-up stuck with that wand place, make sure that you dont get too close to the car (or top) with the wand. stand back with just enough water pressure to get the car wet and rinsed. the cleaning part should be done by your mitt.
i like the idea above of using a friends house-
when i am detailing (washing) my car, i almost always have someone else at my house doing their car too. we share equip, materials and jokes-
must be another s owner near you who can come to the rescue (maybe post in your local community on this board).

Go to those joints when there are few/no cutomers with your 2 buckets of water and shampoo, wash the hell out of the car with your stuff and just do the rinsing with the machine. KEEP THE WAND AWAY from the car, it's so easy to get careless and scratch the car, then dry with a moistened natural chamois(pre-moisten it with clean, cool water at home before leaving).
The high pressure stuff is only for tires and undercarriage. AVOID high pressure on the grill (it CAN bend the radiator fins).
Enjoy!
Cheers,
Daniel
