Ive always been reallly paraniod about water + engine bay. I just feel I will get something wet that isn't suppose to. Maybe I will give this a whirl one day when I get some guts.

Armorall is made of silicone emulsion... water based.
Like anything, moderation is the key. Although still at this point, once you start using Armorall, you should continue. What happens is the AA slowly starts to replace the plasticisers found in stock plastics and if you don't continue to use it, over time the dash/hoses will start to deteriorate.

at my work , we use the ardex stuff called speedy... its this purple stuff that smells so good and works great on tires too.. just make sure you dont get it on the paint as its a pain to get off. When i had my old car painted, the body shop hooked me up with a few cans of CD2, that stuff did work great!!! cant find it anymore tho, anyway, hope that helps!

I just picked up CD2 and my first impression is this stuff is way too shiny. I hope it settles down after it dries up.
To those who can't find CD2- I was in a similar situation. I went to my local AutoZone's and they told me they had no idea what it was but try to the carwash isle. I never found it there. This weekend, I was there picking up some rtv and I found the CD2 next to the engine/radiator sealants... I checked my other local autozone and found it with the greases.
