Maaco paint jobs?

I feel like there is a variance between the management of different Maacos that leads to the discrepancy of quality that has given them a bad wrap. There are some local Maaco's with stellar reviews..

For $500 in materials I could do a much better job than Maaco could ever do. I wouldn't trust anyone to get the details right for that price.

I don't say anything to them but for me they look like crap. Whether it was repaired and the paint doesn't match, or they don't realize that there is overspray, clear that was sprayed too dry, excessive orange peel, or runs. Most people just don't know what to look for.
edit: I just realized you bumped a thread from 2007.

I have my cars repaired and painted by a friend. I think Maaco does a decent job on cars you want to freshen up but as one post says, you get what you pay for and I don't want to take a chance on getting a inferior job.

It's a $400-500 paint job... how could any sane person believe that it would be '"good"...?
If the car came back with runs, overspray, and the clear began fading after a year... I would still say it's a damn good deal

Might be a good deal for my older Jeep but not my BMW.

I had my 1996 dodge Dakota painted there. Spent about $900 because I had them put on and paint a new bumper. It looks fine and held up fine. The rest of the truck not so much but the paint was good. Spend a bit more and have them prep the car some.

If you go through the trouble of removing trim pieces and taking body panels off its not a bad paint job for the price. If you have the ability to remove things such as bumpers, fenders, trunk you'll eliminate a lot of overspray that WILL happen and get a cleaner job.
