Default Little white specs on a Berlina Black?

Hi. Today I was washing my car and as the sun was shining on the left side of my car, I saw all the little flaws and imperfections highlighted in the paint. I saw many little white specs on the lowest part of the left side of my car.

I thought this might be specs of wax that didn't get buffed off so I tried buff them off with a microfiber towel. This did not work. What are these white specs and how to I get them off?

I had these on a black Volvo C70, a 2001. I couldn't get them out, but polishing seemed to "lighten" their effect, but they are definitely still there. So I'd like to know the answer to this question also.

What year is your S? I didn't keep up the Volvo the way I should have so I wonder if you have been a bit negligent in the past with your S, and accumulated this crap over time. I just know this is what happened with my Volvo.

My S is a 2006, bought it last October. I've been pretty good washing and waxing it.

can you pick them off with your fingernail?

if so, clay- if not more likely polish...

i would prob first break off a small piece of clay, clean a small area of the effected part of the car and try the clay on it... it this does the trick, then clay the car as usual.
if clay doesnt get it, it would be a polish solution-

let us know how it goes!!

Thanks for the advice, wanabe. Unfortunately, the specs don't scrape off. I guess I must conclude that these are small paint chips. Is this normal for an 8 month year old car?

That sounds really strange for you to have these on your car. The ones on the Volvo did not come out with clay, in fact clay did zip. I next used SSR2 with a Propel orange pad with a PC and they were reduced, but they were definitely still there. I'm still new to the PC though, so it could have been my technique or product.

Good luck.

It should be relatively easy to tell if they are chips or not...if they are below the paint, they are chips...if they are above the paint, they are not...
