In-Line Water Filter

ranger- i would give mr clean a try for your situation...
give up the soap and forget about the not drying it part-
the filter has gotten good reviews on this board, and sounds like it is a much cheaper solution for your problem.
and i agree with you that griots is a place where you send your money and sometimes you get some products! probably one of the most overpriced detail suppliers out there- some good stuff, but overpriced- imo.

I was turned off by the price of the filter at Griot's too.
Mr. Clean is just "ok" in my experience. The filter clogs after 2 - 3 washings and effectiveness was not great (I have not used the Mr. Clean wash soap, just the filter).
First thing I would do is stop washing in the sun. Go either early morning or just before sundown if you can't get under a roof. Wash one section at a time if need be and dry as you go. If you do this you'll need to get rid of the nozzle and just "flow" the water from the hose (I'm assuming here you don't use the Mr. Clean filter).

Is the water in the main lines of the house softened? It's been forever, but I remember dumping huge bags of salt into our softener in Minnesota. What fun.
Possible to tap into that, if you have it?
Maybe you could also just look into a less expensive alternative, at a place other than Griots.
Or one of those 4-post tents for shading the car when you wash it?
Good luck with it.

Check out this post:
Autopia Water Filter Post
I was especially intrigued by this item with a PW-SOF Cartridge as a lower cost alternative to DI systems
Item from Bill D Autopia Post (page 1)
