Light scratches on polished wheels

Light scratches on polished wheels
A few weeks ago I was washing my wheels, and they had some black tar-like gunk on the polished lip surface. Foolishly, I tried to scrape the gunk off with my fingernails (which are not very long at all). After rinsing with soap and water, I noticed that my nails had left some VERY fine scratches on the surface of the lip.
I rubbed my fingers over the scratches, and they don't seem to have penetrated the surface. I've since washed the wheels several times, but the scratches remain.
What can I use to remove these light scratches from the polished lip area of my wheels? I don't want to have to take the wheels to a repair shop b/c the scratches really are very light and only perceptible from up close.
TIA

I'd try something light like Klasse AIO with a MF towel or stiff foam applicator.
If that doesn't do it, I'd move up to a light paint polish like SFX3, Meguiar's #80, Poorboy's SSR1, etc.
I'd be surprised if either the AIO or a light polish such as these wouldn't take them out.
Or, if they're truly polished, bare metal try a metal polish made for the particular metal - aluminum, chrome, steel...

your wheels are clear coated and you can use whatever you like on the body also on the wheels... if you have a fav swirl remover, give it a try on the wheels.
prob can do the polish by hand. be sure to follow up with a good protectant (i like synthetics on wheels cause they last longer than carnubas- carnubas are gone very fast from wheels)
