Leather Restoration Tips Needed
Hi guys,
We have a 2001 Land Cruiser with a Bone/Beige leather interior that has seen much better days. The car currently has about 250k miles on it and while the leather may not have any rips or tears, it has some significant stains and some cracking. All in all, the leather is still in great condition, but it just looks quite dirty.
I've tried everything from Lexol cleaner to regular over the counter products at Pep Boys. All these products did were to make the leather shiny and oily, but did little in the way of cleaning off some of the stains.
While I know that there's no simple way of repairing some of the cracks, I believe that just by removing some of stains will make the seats look 100x better than they do now.
If you guys can recommend some serious cleaner products that you've used and some techniques on how to remove and apply these products, I would be most appreciative. I've done tons of research on the internet and found that there are about 15 different cleaners from 100 different companies all claiming that their product is the panacea of cleaning.
Thanks!

Oh, I almost forgot.
A few years ago on my old e30, I had used this product that I used that worked well on dry cracked leather, but I cant remember the name!
I had to remove the seats, coat it in this cleaning product, wrap the seats in plastic bags (garbage bags), and leave in the sun for a day. Then clean, dry, repeat. After this was completed, I used their conditioner and a sealant and the seat looked about 100k miles younger.
Anyone know of what product I used? I picked it up at a professional auto detail supply store in Long Beach, CA. but since I live in NY, walking back into this store is impossible.

The guys on the BMW forum are obsessed with it, it's also the choice for Bently/Ferrari and other high-end cars.
