Keep Black car clean
I want to re-wax my car and its too cold to wash my car and i dont have something like a california duster. Im looking for some suggestions. I've though of rinseless washing or detail spray.
Would detail spray over dust do more harm then good???
I just want to wax my car but i dont know how to get the dust off without doing harm and without buying more products.
Thank you in advance

any car that's been exposed to the elements for more than a day is already too much for detail spray/duster/whatever imo
i've seen what the worst can do, and i'd say just live with it. or buy some anti static QD to use after you wax

and my two cents:
once a car is clean (washed) you can keep it clean by using a duster (its not a wipe down tool, its a flick off the dust tool) and a good detail spray...
but you do need to start with a clean car- to try to detail spray a dirty car is asking for swirls.

I am using ONR for the winter. I have tried it once. It seemed to work well, though I confess it felt strange. Since my car is presently NOT swirl-free, it's really hard for me to determine whether I am instilling any new swirls into the paint. I don't think so, but I'm not absolutely certain. Lot's of people swear by the stuff, so I'm pretty much relying on their testimony.
I have an OXO duster. I use it daily on my car.
With black cars one should not look too hard. Always best to abide by the five-foot rule: if your black car looks great from five-feet away, be happy!

I found Honda blacks to be very very soft, so any wipe with dust probably means marks.
But I'm interested in hearing about people's experiences with no rinse, Optima or other. I have a client who wants me to do his black MB, but I have to pick it up and deliver it, and its 1 hour each way. I was figuring doing a full-on detail, then something like ONR once I deliver it in his garage to get the dust and water marks off.

Soo even if i did have california duster i should wash it before i wax it.
Is it ok if i use detail spray after using california duster??
I'll be ordering a california duster ASAP!!
I was thinking on using some kind of rinseless wash but can anyone recommend me a good one that they've used themselves.
Thanks everyone for your input. This is my first black car and it is true that its hard to keep clean. The minute im done washing and waxing, I see dust
And if anyone else has other suggestions for me please feel free to fill me in.
Thanks again

you want to apply wax to the cleanest surface possible, so yes a wash is the only way to go. from personal experience, onr is a wonderful rinseless wash and a much better alternative to using a duster/detailing spray. however, if the car is extremely dirty i would suggest getting it hosed down first.

ONR is great. I like using a nice sponge when I wash with it.
I just got my 1st black vehicle ever last month. I may not be as worried about keeping it dust-free all the time, but now its winter in the northeast so no big deal to me. Plus I have quite a bit of supplies to use when I can.
