Default Just bought a bike on wednesday

My first thought after I bought it was "how the hell do I clean this?".

Everything is exposed, its seriously vulnerable!

Only thing I can think of out of the top of my head was; bucket, soap, spunge, microfiber towel, wax.
I know there is far more to it then the basics, there just has to be.
Road tar problems, dust, bugs, pollen, and (if applicable) birds and their insanely accurate targeting mechanism.

I apologize for starting a motorcycle related detail question here, instead of the motorcycle specific thread.

wow, strange timing-
mrs wanabe just got a bike earlier this week too... (she got a honda !!)

some good links on bike produts and detailing in my post here:

wont get a chance to work on her bike for a few weeks, but when i do i will post up. i plan to foam it, use a soft brush on engine parts and lambswool on the rest- then leaf blow off the water, run the engine a bit to warm it up and dry the rest. then inspect for polishing

All the products we know and love work on motorcyles. Watch the products that go on the seat.

When I had a bike my assortment of brushes was my best friend. You'll need to find out what parts are aluminum, chrome or stainless. Chrome can be waxed just like your paint. Most people don't realize that.

I kinda wonder. How safe are some products if they get on the chain?
