Interior Cleaning including steering wheel
Just a few cleaning questions:
1. What have you found most effective in cleaning the steering wheel/What do you
use?
2. What do you use to clean the dash most effectively?
3. Should I use different products to clean the doors and the dash?
4. I am still uncertain how to fix my grimy rear window. There are some small
scratches, but my poor vision is caused mostly by cloudy grime that won't
go away? I have used Plexus, but it hasn't fixed the problem. Can anybody
help me with this? Seems like many people have this problem.
Thanks,
Matt

To clean the dash I usually only use a damp micro fibre towel but others use 303 protectant. i would not use this on the steering wheel - damp towel is best - you do not want a slippery, shiny wheel
As for the doors the same would work but leather cleaner and conditioner on the leather part.
As for the rear screen BMW do a really good plactic cleaner for the Z3's and is very cheap apparently.
I use a product called hindsight which is a 2 part process and works very very well. BUT it is very expensive even by UK standards.
They do ship internationally and you can check it out at
www.hindsight.uk.com
just checked that will be $100
Hope this helps
I am sure that others will be along shortly to advise of other products and probabbly better ones

the steering wheel has both leather and vinyl as do the doors.
for leather my fav is townsend- both the cleaner and the separate preservative. my second choice is lexol (samething; you need both a cleaner and a preservative)
for vinyl i like vinylex, and my second choice is 303.
plexus is great for the plastic rear window- make sure you are using it properly and with the right kinda rag. if it doesnt work, you must have some bad scratches- if thats the case you will need a scratch repair for plastic. let us know if you need some product advise on this. my guess is that you need to work the plexus more either on the inside (most likely) or maybe the outside.
