i'm a newbie... need some abc training
ok. i know nothing when coming to this kinds of stuff. first off, i heard alot of products that claim to do this and do that. what i want is something to maintain the shiny look of my s2000. please explain to me in detal the following:
wax?
protectant?
swirl remover?
glaze?
my s2000 is spa yellow pearl. it's very shiny as it is now. how do i maintain that shiny look? also, what products do i need to use to help eliminate most bug splatters without affecting the shiny look?
sorry for being such a noob.

Start here:

Please note that this is only one option but if you choose it, it will most likely be all you will ever need.

i'm really lost now. they have so many products. which one should i get? i've nevered used any waxing/protectant/removal products in the past. what i do was buy myself a high pressure washer. wash the car and wipe it clean. that's pretty much it. but that was for my caravan. this is the s2000 now, i need to keep it shiny... very shiny and also have some protection from little debris such as small rock pebbles or bug splatters.
To make myself a real noob, please tell me what, where and how many to get these:
towels? what brand and possibly where (locally or internet order)
buffing machine?? do i really need it?
others that i can't think of?
let's say i decided to get Z-5 or Z-6, how often should i use it on the vehicle (once a week, twice a week)?

You weren't kidding, were ya?
OK, also check here:

Spend some time looking at the "tips" and "application" sections. You will be able to figure it out but to help you out, here is one scheme to follow:
-wash car with liquid dish soap (only the first time and never again).
-clay bar if you wish
-wash again with carwash soap (Zaino stuff is good)
-apply Z1 (if you don't intend to use ZFX)
-apply Z2 (or Z5) over top of Z1
-wait to fully dry (may take hours)
-wipe off completely
-wait 24 hours since first application, do the Z6 spray step, repeat Z2 (or Z5)
-wait till dry, wipe off.
-repeat this again 24 hours later.
You now have the required base layers. If you wish, you can do this every week or 2-3 times a year (which I do). You can use Z6 after each wash as an "in between" step (in between those times you use Z2).
Zaino also will sell you the towels if that's easy for you to buy that way. The Zaino "process" is very good but it is not the only way to go.
If you are not quite ready for this complex a routine, then go the more simplified route. Get a bottle of Zymol cleaner/wax and use this according to the instructions on the bottle (available at autoparts stores) 2-3 times a year and you will still be quite satisfied.
Do a search on this forum for "wax", "polish", "Zaino" in the Wash and Wax forum to find lots of stuff.

Plenty of help available here. If you go the Zaino route, I highly recommend ZFX. You mix it with Z2 or Z5, skip the Z1 step completely, and can put on 2 or 3 coats in 1-2 hours.
As xviper said, it's one option and there are tons more out there. Spend a week or so reading forums in this section, and you'll learn more than you thought you ever could. (Esp if you visit some of the sites often mentioned, many of which have tons of good info.)

thx for all the inputs. i'm afraid that if i absorb too much info at once, i'll lose them all. however, i'll read some more from other sites regarding application usages/steps -- one at a time so i won't get too confused.
