Default How to polish Titanium

Hi, I just got an amuse r1 titan from a local member and i would like to polish it up and make it look new again. Can anyone recommend some good titanium polishes? is it necessary to get titanium specific polishes or will stainless steel ones work as well? I do not want to use steel wool so please don't even go there.

I think "most" metal polishes should work.

I wonder what the percentage of titanium your titan r1 contains? If its just dirty wash with soap and water, as for a polish, I'd use red jewelers rouge. It's what jewelers use on titanium rings to remove any oxidation and fine scratches.

As a side note, there are all kinds of rouge's for glass, metals, plastics and even ivory polishing.

hmm, yea rubbing away the burned look is the last thing i want to do. It looks so good

I tried the soap and water thing (after the pics above) and it cleaned things up a little bit. I will re-attempt that this weekend with a little more elbow grease and if I can't get it any better, i'll try the rouge Thanks Vanishing Point!

I can verify this. I've got a cheap Ti shift knob on my car with a burned upper half. I used Mother's metal polish on it, and the burned effect is all but gone.

sorry to bring up an old thread, but is it correct in saying that mothers mag and aluminum metal polish will not remove the burnt finish?

Is there a different mothers metal polish that i should use? I want to polish up my greddy ti-c but i definately want to keep the burnt look.

thanks

the burnt finish is just oxidation on the metal... you polish it to remove it... red rouge is the most aggressive and will leave fine scratches... white is the mirror finish

My argument is Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish says, "Not recommended for gold plating, chrome, anodizeds, painted, or coated metals."
I would think that burnt look would be some kind of coating or something, so I would think you would want to use a metal polish designed for all metals.

My Eagle One Nano Wheel Polish for Mag, Chrome, and Aluminum wheel says the opposite, "The non-abrasive formula in Nano Wheel Polish is safe to use on all metal surfaces and is clear-coat safe. Nano Wheel Polish is also recommended for use on bumpers, fiberglass and stainless steel."
